Sort fresh from the Dryer Room

With the many members coming from different units billeted at the Patron House, activities are carefully planned and coordinated during their stay.Even with that, there are still idle time, especially for the youths in between or after doing baptisms. During their slack time, they are invited to assist the Housing attendants in doing laundry activities. The eager youths  learned quickly the assigned work. After the activity, each of them are given with certificate of service  which they can use for value in their Duty to God/Personal Progress Report.

Missionary Couple Thanks Members

Elder & Sister Ward
Dear Friends,

The crowning experience of our mission has been our work in the temple. We have felt joy in the miracle of the mastery of the temple ordinance work by the Filipino Saints. Our most precious memories have come as we have worked side by side with all of you. We are awed by the dedicated devotion of local members who regularly attend the temple. We are moved to tears with the sacrifices made by distant members who travel hundred of kilometers to come to the temple, often over stormy seas, rough roads, few funds but with tremendous trust, testimony and faith. We are amazed with the sheer volume of temple work that has been done. We are humbled to know that we have been blessed to be a small part of this marvelous work. Our testimonies of the savior and of temple work have grown immensely.
You have warmed us with your love. We are leaving a part of our  hearts here in Cebu. As i (we) pondered what we could do to show our love, this words came into my mind. We dedicate this Temple poem to all of you who have touch our lives so greatly as we have served in the Cebu Temple.

The evening with Elder J Holland was very enlightening  to the Young Single Adults.and the rest of the attendees.A few of the Single Adults fielded questions which then Elder & Sister Teh and Elder & Sister  Callister took turn in sharing their thoughts about it. The questions  deals with the challenges SA's  are facing, like getting married  and living in a not so friendly family environment. The answers are equally inspiring and with personal touch as the Authorities shared their experiences in relation to the challenges faced by the SA's.  Elder Michael Teh had a preview of what Elder J Holland will talk about as he explained the emphasis on the "SA" part of the "YSA" word

"Tatay" Passes Away

DSC06387.JPG

Efren De Dios 1.JPG
1942-2011
He is called "Tatay" not for any reason. It is the noblest endearing word accorded by those many whose lives are touched with his association, making a difference on their lives as they knew him.His life is a hallmark of dedication to God, Family,Church and in serving others, even to those beyond the veil.

When he and his loving wife could have enjoyed the years together for themselves after many years of constant address change brought by his employment, they stayed on and moved even closer to the temple so they can come as often to the House of the Lord. The many who came to express love and respect to the man who to them is aptly called "Tatay" for in him one can feel what it is like to be a son or a daughter. The loss of him in  the family is great , much so with the work he love most doing, in family history and as assistant to the Temple Recorder. His ever warmth smile will be missed by everyone ,  till we met again... Tatay Efren De Dios.

Pedestrian Assistance

A sister coming from the Temple Complex safely assisted by the traffic enforcer
With the heavy  traffic along the highway where the Temple is located, crossing to either side of the lane  raised safety concerns. An arrangement with the local barangay authority was made to provide the Complex with traffic enforcer to man the area from 8AM to 10PM Tuesday to Saturday. The presence of the barangay traffic enforcer greatly ease the anxiety in crossing the busy street. So  next time you cross  the road going to or coming from the Complex, expect the friendly traffic enforcer to assist you , safely and with a smile :-)
